Optimizing for Serial Innovation

The genius innovative mind is just that. It's highest and best use is serial innovation. This is the path to the greatest good from innovation.

CAIDI selects innovators whose lived experience is impacted by societal attitudes causing their genius to be suppressed.  Innovators that because of the unequal distribution of wealth and opportunity or other societal conditions and attitudes would never even get on the typical incubator or investor "radar screen".  Unfortunately, society would never benefit from their genius because their ideas would never become reality given the current startup ecosystem.

Selection

CAIDI's innovation center campus provides room, board, lab equipment, supplies, and other services allowing fellows to be free of financial burden, cooking, cleaning, etc. during their 6 month cohort. We minimize the distraction of daily life to maximize attention on innovation.

Freedom to Focus

Mentorship and Investor Prep

At the end of each cohort, CAIDI fellows are mentored by industry leaders to finalize the initiatives MVP.  Business plans and pitch decks are created by experts for the fellow.  CAIDI's presentation day introduces the initiative to CAIDI's investor network.

Benefits and B-Corporation

Each initiative is set up as a Benefits Corporation and B-Corp by CAIDI, pursuing B-Corp Certification. Once the entity is funded, CAIDI works with the founding fellow to select a seasoned expert executive team that will run the business aspects of the corporation. This reduces the risk of the investment and the founder's business skills are no longer an investment consideration or stumbling block. The founding fellow is expected to guide the vision of innovation and not even the operations of innovations.  The charter of the Executive Team will be to obtain and keep B-Lab Certification. This ensures its mission balancing social good and profits is protected through capital raises, leadership changes & creates more flexibility and transparency in business.  CAIDI retains a 10% ownership stake in the B-Corporation.

Serial Innovation

When the founding fellow's stock is valued at $50MM, the stock becomes part of the "JP Morgan Investment Instrument". At this point, the founding fellow has "escape velocity". This insured instrument allows the founding fellow to live a reasonable life of wealth and free of monetary concerns.  Without these distraction, the fellow choose to innovate again, return to CAIDI in another cohort and become a serial innovator for social good! And, as a B-Corp the original initiative continues on balancing social good with profits.
